Path of Exile Currency

Path of Exile stands apart from most games with its unique currency system involving Orbs. These can be used to change almost all equipment found within the game - Maps, Atlases, Fragments or even your character themselves!

Orbs

Orbs are the primary Poe Currency  in PvP (Player versus Player). Used mainly for crafting purposes and trading between players, orbs have their own special value and functionality in PoE. There are various kinds of orbs with their own distinct uses and values.

Chaos Orb: Re-rolls the explicit modifiers of an item with random effects for more interesting combinations. Best used with items with three positive attributes already attached or that cannot be bench crafted (like jewels).

Vaal Orb: Corrupt an item for a chance at acquiring an Implicit Modifier, making this orb particularly helpful when upgrading rare and unique items early on in a league. Furthermore, this orb can also be used to increase skill gem level values by corrupting it with this effect.

Shards

Shards are an effective way of spreading workload across multiple servers, increasing scalability and decreasing latency. Data replication is crucial in social media platforms and financial systems that process real-time transactions in large volumes; however, sharding does come with its own set of challenges: replicating and storing securely may impact performance while cross-shard transactions must also be performed to avoid performance bottlenecks.

Path of Exile uses Shards as its path of exile currency  to modify item affixes, with these being obtained via monster drops, chests and destructible containers as well as vendor recipes or player trading systems. They may also be used through Heist to purchase maps and consumables.

Chaos and Regal Shards are highly sought-after poe currency list shards that can be used to reroll random modifiers on rare items, while Binding Shards transform an average item into something rare with four sockets linked together.

Fragments

Fragment is a word that refers to breaking up or disassembling into pieces or fragments, often used when discussing computer files. Fragments allow data storage that comprises various forms of information to be easily accessed and updated through computer files.

Fragments, also known as dependent clauses or long phrases detached from their main sentences, are the most frequently seen type of fragment. While common in fiction writing, it should not be used in formal writing such as school papers and emails; similarly it's considered improper in business communications. Fragments should only be used sparingly; overdoing it will make your writing sound incomplete and disjointed; however if used sparingly they can actually help make your text more concise.

Oils & Catalysts

Path of Exile's currency system consists of various functional items designed to serve specific functions - adding random affixes to equipment, altering gear bonuses and restructuring passive skill trees among them. They can be obtained through monster drops, chests, destructible containers or vendor recipes.

Every Blight encounter rewards at least one oil, an essential crafting resource used to enchant rings, amulets or modify Blighted maps. A catalyst can also be applied directly to an item to improve its effect from implicit and explicit modifiers by rerolling their effects.

Catalysts can provide additional chances to reduce physical damage taken, making them useful on healer builds with Anoint passive skill - however they can be costly to use.

Resonators

Currency items are an integral component of Path of Exile's game economy, providing players with various ways to modify equipment. They may drop from monsters, be purchased directly from town vendors, be acquired through vendor recipes or traded between players.

Resonators are special items designed to offer more deterministic reforge of rare gear through targeted tag socketing. Fossils may be placed into these items in order to allow it to roll modifier types based on its current value while preserving existing prefixes and suffixes.
